Next-Gen contacted Microsoft (http://tinyurl.com/2p565z) who typically denied to comment. Next-Gen says it spoke with someone close to Microsoft that said it wasn't true and not in the cards...

So (playing Devil's Advocate for a moment) would it really be such a bad thing to have multiple SKUs to choose from? It'd make the Xbox 360 lineup more like an automotive lineup.

You could get the stripped-down Xbox 360. Or the 360LX. You could upgrade to the 360C or 360C SRT8 (I'm using Chrysler examples, but you see what I'm saying?) Someone could buy into as fancy a package as they can afford. And sure, it'll invite a little hater-ism from the people that can only pony-up the for the low-end model, but...

...Never mind. I think I just convinced myself of how bad of an idea another SKU will be.
