Due to technical issues (they didn't send me the MP3 file and I can't get orb 2.0 to record online radio any more) there's no recording of the Digital Crack Report for Today. Instead I'm just going to paste in my show notes which is what I base the show off off.
These are just the talking points I bring in with me when I do the show so I can sound like I know what I'm talking about. I've tried writing it out the segment in the past before but I just sound wooden and it doesn't come off right. Plus Brian likes to mix things up sometimes and if I have a strict script then it really throws me off and I sounds like (more) of a bumbling idiot. The show actually went OK today as I was able to engage the gears that keep my mouth running at a rate at which normal human beings can understand me.
FWIW, this week marks the two year anniversary of doing the segment.

Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened (PC)
- This is your standard Sherlock Holmes solves a mystery game except for the fact that Holmes enemy is more on the supernatural side of things
- Instead of fighting Moriarty or any of the other bad guys you are battling the dark forces of the cult of Cthulhu
- It’s actually a nice twist on the standard adventure fare
- The game has been out in Europe for a while and has gotten great reviews, if you’re looking for a little adventure fun this might be worth checking out
Medal of Honor: Airborne (PC, Xbox 360)
- Yes it’s another WWI shooter with more vintage weapons
- The game is a little different than previous games as you get to play a member of the 82nd airborne unit
- What’s different is that you pick your landing spots so you can approach the missions a little differently
- It’s an interesting twist but it still feels like the WWII genre is a bit played out
- Demo out for the PC and Xbox 360 in case you want to try it before you spend your money on the game
Lair (PS3)
- Looking for a game where you can fly giant dragons and blow stuff up? Well Lair is your game
- I received my copy on Friday and the game has some phenomenal graphics and audio, it really does look like a next gen game
- The problem is that they force you to fly with the SIXAXIS motion control which is a little awkward and unwieldy; there are also some glitches in the game play
- It’s a shame because the game does look good, you may want to hold off spending your money on this one until they patch it, this is a rental at best right now.
John Woo’s Stranglehold (360)
- Have you ever seen Hardboiled the movie? Well this game is essentially a sequel to the movie as you pick up the mantle of semi super cop Tequila as he tries to unravel a new mystery
- The game is a fantastic homage to the John Woo style as you’ve got everything from dual fisting guns, to super slow mo, to the doves that magically appear out of no where
- What’s cool about the game is that the environments are completely destructible and you can actually use the environments to take out bad guys. This means you can drop signs on people and other cool things
- This is a game that John and I were really impressed with at E3 and there’s a demo on Xbox Live if you want to try it out before you buy it
- If you own a PS3 you might want to hold out for that version at it will contain a full copy of the move Hard Boiled on the Blu Ray disc
